Audi unveils new RS5 with 630 BHP plug-in hybrid powertrain
Audi has revealed the new-generation RS5 with a 630 BHP plug-in hybrid setup and up to 80 km of electric-only range.
Audi RS5 has been revealed in its latest generation, now featuring a plug-in hybrid powertrain and significantly higher performance figures. Based on the new-gen A5, the RS5 marks a major shift toward electrified performance.
Under the hood is a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine producing 503 BHP, paired with an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed automatic gearbox that contributes an additional 128 BHP. The combined system output stands at an impressive 630 BHP. Power is sent to all four wheels, enabling the RS5 to sprint from 0–100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, despite a kerb weight of 2,370 kg.
The added mass — around 550 kg heavier than the previous RS4 — is largely due to the 25.9 kWh battery pack, which provides up to 80 km of electric-only range.
The new RS5 will be offered in both Sedan and Avant body styles. It features a bold Singleframe grille, slim LED headlamps, flared arches, full-width LED taillights and a sporty rear diffuser with dual exhaust outlets.
Inside, the cabin combines performance and tech with a 3-spoke steering wheel, digital instrument cluster, large central touchscreen and an additional passenger-side display. Front occupants get body-hugging bucket seats. The Avant offers 361 litres of boot space, while the sedan provides 350 litres.
