Bharat Taxi expands operations to Delhi-NCR & Gujarat
The platform follows a zero-commission model with no surge pricing.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched Bharat Taxi, India’s first co-operative-run ride-hailing service, starting operations in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat. The platform is expected to expand nationwide over the next three years. Bharat Taxi has been created by a group of eight major co-operative organisations and is positioned as a driver-first alternative to existing ride apps. The model focuses on higher driver earnings and shared ownership, something its founders say traditional aggregators don’t offer. As per the revenue structure, drivers will receive Rs 80 out of every Rs 100 earned, with the remaining Rs 20 going toward platform operations. The service runs on a zero-commission, surge-free pricing model, aiming to keep fares predictable for customers while ensuring stable income for drivers. More than 2.5 lakh drivers in Delhi-NCR have already joined the platform. Users can book bike taxis, autos, and cars through the app. Bharat Taxi will be operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd., supported by institutions such as IFFCO, AMUL (GCMMF), NABARD, and other national co-operative bodies, marking a large-scale push toward co-operative mobility in India.
