BYD Issues Recall for Seal EV Over Potential Battery Concern

BYD Issues Recall for Seal EV Over Potential Battery Concern
BYD will replace the faulty battery pack at no cost to customers.

According to a media report, BYD has issued a recall for the BYD Seal electric sedan in India to address a potential issue related to its high-voltage battery system. While the exact number of vehicles affected by this recall has not been officially disclosed, the move appears to be a precautionary safety measure. BYD has requested Seal owners across India to visit their nearest authorised service centres for a detailed inspection. The issue is reported to be linked to the Seal’s Blade battery technology. As part of the recall process, BYD will replace the faulty battery pack free of cost if any defect is detected. The BYD Seal was launched in India in 2024 and is offered with two battery pack options – 61.44 kWh and 82.56 kWh. The electric sedan is available in single-motor and dual-motor configurations and offers a claimed driving range of up to 650 km, depending on the variant. At present, there are no reports of other BYD models in India being affected by the same battery-related issue.
