Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 Coupe India Launch Expected In 2027

Mercedes-Benz is preparing to expand its AMG performance SUV lineup in India with the introduction of the new Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 Coupe. According to recent reports, the luxury performance SUV is expected to be launched in the Indian market during the second half of 2027. The new AMG GLC 53 Coupe made its global debut earlier this year and is offered internationally in both standard SUV and coupe body styles. However, reports suggest that Mercedes-Benz is likely to introduce only the coupe version in India, targeting buyers looking for a sportier and more premium alternative in the luxury SUV segment. Powering the Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 Coupe is a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The performance-focused setup produces 443 BHP and 600 Nm of torque and is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Power is sent to all four wheels through Mercedes-Benz’s AMG Performance 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system, allowing the SUV Coupe to deliver strong performance along with improved traction and stability. Mercedes claims the AMG GLC 53 Coupe can sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds, making it one of the quickest SUVs in its segment. The SUV also comes equipped with multiple driving modes including Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual, allowing drivers to customize the vehicle’s performance characteristics based on driving conditions and preferences. For buyers looking for a more aggressive driving experience, Mercedes also offers the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package. This package adds a rear limited-slip differential along with a dedicated Drift Mode, enhancing handling and rear-end agility during spirited driving. In terms of positioning, the upcoming AMG GLC 53 Coupe will sit above the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe currently sold in India. The GLC 43 uses a smaller 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and is priced at Rs 99.85 lakh (ex-showroom).
