New Renault Duster Secures 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating

Renault has achieved a major safety milestone with the Renault Duster, as the all-new SUV has secured a 5-star rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests. The results reinforce the Duster’s positioning as a rugged yet safety-focused offering in the mid-size SUV segment. In terms of scores, the Duster performed strongly across both categories. It recorded 30.49 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection, while child occupant protection stood at 45 out of 49 points, highlighting its well-rounded safety performance. During the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the SUV offered good protection to the driver’s head, neck and lower body, while the chest and leg areas were rated as providing adequate protection. The front passenger, however, received an overall good protection rating, indicating a well-optimized crash structure. The Duster also impressed in side impact evaluations, including the side movable deformable barrier test and side pole impact test, where occupant protection levels were rated as good. These results indicate strong structural integrity and effective side-impact safety systems. For child safety, the SUV achieved a perfect dynamic score of 24/24, along with a CRS (Child Restraint System) installation score of 12/12. The remaining vehicle assessment score stood at 9/13, contributing to its high overall rating. The test vehicle came equipped with a comprehensive safety package, including dual front airbags, side chest airbags, curtain airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and seatbelt reminders. These features play a crucial role in achieving the high safety rating. With this result, Renault Duster strengthens its appeal among buyers looking for a combination of rugged capability, modern features and strong safety credentials. The 5-star Bharat NCAP rating is expected to significantly boost buyer confidence, especially in a segment where safety is becoming a key purchase factor.
